The reflecting sun on a blue tarp covering a construction container referring to a landscape of waves with an invented name recalling those of the Italian beaches in the summer. “Teloni a mare” literally means “Tarp at sea”. These photographs were taken close to my home, during a daily walk part of a long revalidation process. The shimmering of a late afternoon sun on the textured folds of this blue tarp covering a construction container immediately made me think of the setting sun on the sea. I was instantly transported. Memories collided, those of an Italian beach at sunset, then « Casanova », Fellini’s movie where the sea is a tarp that is waved as special effects ... At times when my personal horizon
is shrinking due to health issues, these images allow me to mentally escape and experience the sensations of a sea that I can no longer physically approach. Like a « madeleine de proust », this composition of multiple images taken without prior intention, does not seek to imitate the sea but give the sensation of it, evoking memories ... to each one his own ....
