A Private Affair is the preview to the upcoming exhibition at Cloud Seven this September that courts with tension and conflicts in private and public life. Without being didactic, it foretells the consequences when “private parts” become “public domain”.

At a time when renewed assault is made on the resources and modes of existence of displaced, disenfranchised and dehumanized populations, we need to rethink how the oppressors continue to subdue the oppressed and what enables the former to create new historical realities that co-opts for its own purposes the same struggles and the very systems of oppression that the latter continues to resist.

It includes the performances: ‘4(a)ch/cords’ and ‘Becoming’. An artist talk between Daniel Nicoleavsky Maria and Lieven de Boeck moderated by Jeanne Mouffe. With a selection of works from the Collection of Frederic de Goldschmidt.
