With images showing found objects and sculptural situations, Brussels based photographer, Sven Laurent is blurring the boundaries of 'what is' and 'is not a work' of art, inviting the viewer to question his own sense of aesthetics and the way he is looking at his environment. Beyond its formal representation, Sven's work is exploring the perception of materiality, value and legitimacy in contemporary art. Taken during daily walks part of a long physical rehabilitation process, these images explore the notion of ‘abstract landscape’ found in urban public space. The physical proximity with these small formats transforms the banality of the photographed subjects into intimate moments of comfort and reflection.
